Are these dreary winter days giving you the blues? I love spending time outside but this cold weather has made it hard to get out for long stretches of time.
Last Sunday I was planning to walk the kids to the park to run around and it started raining yet again! Determined to get some exercise in, I transformed my stairwell into a gym and got a quick, 20-minute workout. I'm always amazed at how much it improves my mood to just work-out for 20 minutes!
I don't know what the weather holds for you this week, but here is a copy of my work-out for you to try if you wind up needing to exercise indoors. If you can get outside, find a track with a set of stairs. Make sure to warm up for about 5 minutes before going into the workout. I usually warm up with a couple slow runs up and down the stair, squats, arm and leg swings, and plank walkouts.
STAIR WORKOUT
2 stair sprints
30 alternating, reverse lunges
15 pushups
{repeat 2x}
2 stair sprints
20 jumping squats
15 triceps dips on the stairs
{repeat 2x}
2 stair sprints
15 high step-ups on the stairs, each leg
30 second plank
{repeat 2x}
2 stair sprints
20 bridges
30 bicycle crunches
{repeat 2x}
Make sure to spend 5 minutes cooling down and stretching after the workout. If you try it this weekend, let me know!
